The Hot Rock

The Hot Rock
Released: 1972
Comedy
Director: Peter Yates
Starring: Robert Redford, George Segal, Ron Leibman
Running Time: 101 minutes
Rated: PG

The breakdown:  A team of thieves plan on stealing a very large diamond from a museum, but it turns out they have to steal it over and over again before getting it right.

Redford plays Dortmunder, a man who just got released from prison when his brother-in-law approaches him about another crime.  Dr. Amusa is an African ambassador who wants a special diamond that was stolen from his people during colonial times returned to his country.  He approaches Redford and his team to steal it back from a museum under high security.  Redford figures out a plan and they go through a great deal to steal it from the museum, problem is at the end of the day, they still don't quite have it in their hands.  They have to steal it from the police station now where it's been hidden.  After that plan doesn't quite work out, they have to steal it again.  It's hysterical and quite entertaining.  I've never even heard of this movie until a week ago, but it's fresher than most movies I watch made today.
If you feel like laughing this is a good one to see.

I give it 3 and 1/2 stubs for being funny and witty.
