Legend
Released: 1985
Fantasy
Starring: Mia Sara, Tom Cruise, Tim Curry
Director: Ridley Scott
Running Time: 94 minutes
Rated: PG
The breakdown: Tom Cruise plays some dumb penniless young man who has to save his world and his woman from the devil.
This was a terrible movie. I think it was most likely trying to compete with movies like The Neverending Story, Dark Crystal and even Labyrinth but it didn't connect with me. The characters are poorly written and you don't care what happens to them. Mia Sara plays a fairy princess who is in love with a poor forest boy played by Cruise. She touches a unicorn (not supposed to do) but Cruise doesn't tell her and lets her anyway. Touching a unicorn kind of contaminants magic and allows bad things to happen. The lord of darkness has sent minions out into the forest to find unicorns to cut off their horns and somehow that will let him fill the world with darkness and he can take over. Well, he lures Sara into his world and is about to marry her when Cruise and his bizarre elf buddies come in to save the day. They do, but you don't care. The only thing I liked about this movie was Tim Curry and his costume/makeup. He was awesome and so was his get up. Otherwise, it was so so boring.
I give it 1 1/2 out of 5 for Tim Curry alone.
