The breakdown: A team of scientists decide to get rid of people's ghost problems to make some much needed money.
I actually went to go see this movie in the theaters at its time of release. I was very young so most of the stuff scared the crap out of me, but over the years I've come to appreciate it and even laugh at it.
Three scientists are a little down on their luck and want to experiment with the idea of capturing real ghosts. They come across a system that they think might work so they put out some commercials and get some attention. Sigourney Weaver plays a woman who thinks her apartment has a major problem. Eggs are frying themselves on her kitchen counter and a demon dog is living in her refrigerator. Bill Murray absolutely falls in love with her and wants any excuse to see her so he visits her apartment many times trying to help her and learn more about her. Across the way from her apartment is a nerdy accountant (Rick Moranis) who also likes Weaver and tries to date her. The scenes at his party are hilarious! Anyway, the government finds out about the ghost busters facility holding all these ghosts and doesn't believe them when they say not to shut down the power. Well, of course they do and all Hell breaks loose on New York City. The climax of the movie comes when on the top of Weavers apartment high rise, the ghost busters have to fight the ultimate bad guy leader. If you've never seen it I won't ruin it for you, but it's really a funny scary movie worth watching.
I give it a 4 1/2 out of 5 for being so hysterical and an 80's classic.
