Man oh man. I'm glad I didn't waste my money on this one!
Oh first the factual stuff:
Released: 2010
Starring: Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber
Director: Phillip Noyce
Running Time: 100 minutes
Jolie plays Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent who gets accused by a Russian defector that she is a Russian spy. Schreiber plays Ted Winter, her boss.
I was going along for the ride with this movie thinking that it was going to be good. I mean in Changeling, I thought it was going to be a laughably bad horror movie and I was shocked to realize it was not a horror movie, and that it was very very good. I can't say the same for this one.
This movie was not written to be believable first off. The stunts are so ridiculous in it that only stunt people could do them, not even the best CIA agent could perform some of the stuff Jolie's character did. Once that happens too many times in a movie you lose me.
I don't think I'm even going to devote too much time to this review in fact. I lost 1 hour and 40 minutes of my life already to it, it's not worth anymore.
Short version.
Salt is married. She spent some time in Russia as a child. She was hired by the CIA with a focus on Russia because of that. A defector comes into the office late one afternoon and says Salt is going to be the one to kill the Russian president while he's there on business. Everyone starts looking at her different after that and they want to arrest her. She flees (doing amazing stunts throughout) and tries to protect her husband, who looks like an innocent victim in all of this.
She gets ahold of everyone who done her wrong and kills them with amazing armory skill and accuracy. The story is formulaic and overdone. There's no surprises or much good to say at the end of the movie.
The best I can do is that Liev Schreiber is hot in a suit! That's all I got for you. Keep your money and rent Changeling from 2008 instead. I will review that one in the future.
I give it 2/5 ticket stubs for Jolie looking beautiful while killing countless people and Schreiber's hotness.
