Namaste

I've taken Yoga classes all my life and enjoyed it throughly.
I recommend anyone who has not done one class to at least, give it a try.  Not only does it help you become more flexible and get you into shape, it helps focus your mind to be quiet and helps with concentration.

Countless yoga instructors have ended the class with the word namaste and a bow with their hands pressed together in front of their chest.

Today I'll let you know what the word means.

Unfortunately the word is not mainstream in the states, so you probably won't find it in the dictionary (I didn't find it in 2 different dictionaries.)

It's origin is in East India and it literally means "I bow to you or your form".
I've also heard interpretations close to:
the spirit in me respects the spirit in you
or
the divinity in me bows to the divinity in you.
All meaning the same thing - a greeting as a sign of respect.  It's used a lot in Yoga, but probably got the most attention recently when Dr. Pierre Chang used it on the television show "Lost", and now you know what it means too.
Namaste
