There's this band that I've never heard of before called The Stills.
I first discovered their music purely by accident. I was watching a wonderful show that was cancelled after only one season and they had one of their songs playing at the end of the episode. It was emotional and the song really grabbed me.
I did some research and found out who it was and then started listening to other stuff from them. You might like them, but I really do like a few of their songs. They play rock I guess, that sounds so generic with all the little sub-genres there are these days, but it's a rock group.
Quite a few songs off this album (Oceans Will Rise) I have liked.
The best song they've done to date is Everything I Build is Breaking Down.
It's a song about loss and fear, a place that I'm in a lot these days unfortunately. But it's nice to have a song that speaks to where you are and makes you feel not so alone in your emotions.
Another song is, I'm With You. Catchy, upbeat, kinda' pop rock I guess.
Snow in California is a catchy one that is always stuck in my head. Easy to sing along with, hard for me to forget.
Rooibos/Palm Wine Drinkard [sic] is kinda' loud and obnoxious, but it's good for when you're in an angry crazy mood I guess. Pounding beats, lots of guitar and angry sounding words bitten off in the lead singers mouth.
I give the album 2 out of 5 microphones, since even I don't like all the songs, and most of my experience with them has been limited to just this album. Obviously, music and sound is hard to describe with words, but I'll do my best to expand my knowledge for this category of my blog.
